Central Mamuju Regency RKTD Preparation Coordination Meeting Discusses Employment Development

June 13, 2024 | Other Activities

On Thursday, June 13 2024, a Coordination Meeting for the Preparation of the Regional Workforce Plan (RKTD) for Central Mamuju Regency was held at the Fadilah Hotel. This event was opened by the Head of the Transmigration and Manpower Service. In this activity, the coordination meeting was guided by a speaker from the West Sulawesi Provincial Manpower Service who provided direction regarding employment conditions in Central Mamuju.

The speaker presented data sourced from the February national labor force survey (Sakernas), including data on the labor force, non-labor force, open unemployment rate (TPT), labor force participation rate (TPAK), and the distribution of the population aged 15 years and over. In his presentation, he emphasized the importance of these indicators in employment policy analysis, especially the TPT which showed a decline in Central Mamuju. "The level of open unemployment in Central Mamuju has relatively decreased. However, in this case, the regional government needs to carry out an in-depth analysis regarding the workforce and non-labor force," explained the speaker.

The speaker also highlighted the need for targeted skills development for the workforce, not non-labor force groups such as housewives, to take advantage of the opportunities of the productive age demographic in the upcoming demographic bonus era. He added, "Developing skills for non-labor force members such as housewives only increases the labor force participation rate."

From the educational aspect, data shows that the majority of the population aged 15 years and over only has elementary or middle school education, so more attention is needed from the regional government to improve the quality of education. "Local governments need to have a greater role in paying attention to the quality of education," said the speaker.

At the end of the meeting, a discussion was held in which each Regional Apparatus Organization (OPD) was asked to describe the programs or policies that have been, are being, or will be implemented regarding efforts to control the quality of the workforce in Central Mamuju for the 2024-2026 period.
